YeojuTalk Terms of Service
Terms of Service
These Terms govern the conditions and procedures for using YeojuTalk, the service operated by Yeoju Institute of Technology (the “University”), and set out the rights and obligations of the University and its users.
This English text is the version we present to users by default. The Korean text — 한국어로 보기 — is the official version filed by the University, and prevails if the two differ in meaning.
Article 1 (Purpose)
These Terms set out the rights, obligations and responsibilities between the University and its users in connection with the use of the mobile app “YeojuTalk” and related web services (the “Service”) provided by the University.
YeojuTalk is exclusive to Yeoju Institute of Technology. These Terms and the Privacy Policy apply to YeojuTalk only.
Article 2 (Definitions)
- “Service” means the YeojuTalk mobile app and the administrator web console provided by the University.
- “User” means a member of Yeoju Institute of Technology who has agreed to these Terms and has been approved by the University to use the Service.
- “Class” means a group chat unit created by the University.
- “Administrator” means a University administrator or class administrator designated by the University.
- “Content” means any text, image, file or other information a user posts or sends through the Service.
Article 3 (Effect and amendment of these Terms)
- These Terms take effect when they are posted within the Service or published on this page.
- The University may amend these Terms to the extent that the amendment does not violate applicable law.
- Where these Terms are amended, the University will announce the effective date and the reason for the change at least 7 days before it takes effect. Changes unfavourable to users will be announced at least 30 days in advance and will not be applied to a user who does not expressly agree to them.
- A user who does not agree to the amended Terms may terminate their use of the Service.
Article 4 (Eligibility and approval of registration)
- The Service is available only to members of Yeoju Institute of Technology.
- The Service is available only to people aged 18 or over.
- After you apply, your account is held pending approval. You can use the Service from the moment an administrator has confirmed your membership of the University and approved the account. The result is communicated to you in the app.
-
The University may refuse an application, or terminate the agreement afterwards, in the following cases:
- the application used another person’s identity or information;
- the applicant is not, or is no longer, a member of Yeoju Institute of Technology;
- the applicant is under 18 years of age;
- the applicant has previously been restricted from the Service for breaching these Terms.
Article 5 (What the Service provides)
The University provides the following features. The exact set of features may change according to the University’s operating policy.

- Users are responsible for managing their account and password, and may not transfer or lend them to a third party.
- If you become aware that your account has been stolen or is being used by a third party without authorisation, notify support@yeoju.ac.kr immediately; the University will take the necessary measures.
Article 7 (Prohibited conduct)
Users must not do any of the following. The University applies a zero-tolerance policy to the categories of content listed below.
- Expression amounting to hate, discrimination, harassment, threats or insult towards others

Article 8 (Reporting and blocking)
- Users may report an individual message or another user.
- Users may block another user so that they no longer receive that user’s messages; the block list is managed in the app’s settings.

- The University does not disclose the identity of the reporter to the person reported.
Article 9 (Measures for breaches)
Taking into account the seriousness of the breach and whether it is repeated, the University may apply the following measures in stages or immediately.

Article 10 (Automatic translation and AI support)
- To use automatic translation of chats and notices, and AI QnA support, you must expressly consent in the app to these Terms and to the transfer of personal data to third parties. Consent can be withdrawn at any time in the app’s settings.
- Automatic translation receives only the sentence to be translated, and AI support receives only your question and the context of that conversation; identifying information such as your name or email address is not sent. See the Privacy Policy for details.
- Emergency interpretation uses your phone's built-in speech recognition, which may send the audio to Apple or Google to be transcribed, and the same cloud translation service as chat, with on-device translation as a fallback.
- Automatic translations and AI answers are machine-generated and may be inaccurate. For important matters such as visas, residence status, academic procedures or medical care, you must confirm the information with the responsible University department or the competent authority, and the University is not responsible for consequences arising from relying on a translation or an AI answer alone.
Article 11 (Rights in and management of content)
- Copyright in the content a user creates belongs to that user.
- The University uses content only to the extent necessary to provide the Service (transmission, storage, translation and display) and does not disclose it externally or use it for other purposes.
- The University may delete content that breaches Article 7, or block access to it, without prior notice.
- Even after a user deletes their account, content left in a conversation may remain so that the conversation stays coherent for other participants; in that case the sender’s identifying information is removed.
Article 12 (Changes to and interruption of the Service)
- The University may change the content of the Service for operational or technical reasons, and will announce such changes in advance.
- The Service may be suspended temporarily for unavoidable reasons such as regular maintenance, equipment replacement, system failure or force majeure. Planned interruptions are announced in advance; in urgent cases the announcement may be made afterwards.
- If the University discontinues the Service, it will give at least 30 days’ notice and will destroy users’ personal data in accordance with the Privacy Policy.
Article 13 (Termination of the agreement)
- Users may terminate the agreement at any time from Settings > Delete account in the app.

Article 15 (Limits of liability)
- The University is not liable where it cannot provide the Service for reasons outside its control, such as force majeure or communication failures.
- The University is not responsible for the reliability or accuracy of content posted by users. It does, however, act on reported violations under Article 9.
- The University has no obligation to intervene in disputes arising through the Service between users, or between a user and a third party.
- As stated in Article 10(4), the accuracy of automatic translations and AI answers is not guaranteed.
- This Article does not apply to damage caused by the University’s intent or gross negligence.
Article 16 (Governing law and dispute resolution)
- These Terms and the use of the Service are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea.
